19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after that period of 2023.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event in the past months.
His defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved service.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.
The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
